Research Publications

Professor Semsarian is a physician scientist whose research focus over the last 25 years has been in the field of genetic cardiovascular disease. He is both a cardiologist and a researcher. His work focuses on identifying new genes in cardiovascular disease, elucidating the molecular basis of how these genes lead to the clinical phenotype, and evaluating the role of modifying factors in clinical disease development and progression. Professor Semsarian completed a successful PhD at the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute (1999), and subsequently studied at the Department of Genetics, Harvard Medical School, Boston (1999-2001).

Professor Semsarian returned to Australia in 2001 and established the Agnes Ginges Centre for Molecular Cardiology at the Centenary Institute, University of Sydney. Professor Semsarian has over 400 peer-reviewed scientific publications in leading cardiology and scientific journals including Nature, New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of Clinical Investigation, Lancet, JAMA, Circulation, British Medical Journal, Genetics in Medicine, and Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
